The Research Infrastructure Group manages SSJ Data Archive (SSJDA). The Social Survey Research Group conducts the Japanese Life Course Panel Survey (JLPS). The Social Survey Research Group has also cooperated with Osaka University of Commerce to conduct the Japanese General Social Surveys (JGSS) between the academic year 1998-2012.
(for detailed information, please visit this site).
Due to server failure, SSJDA Direct has stopped since October 30, 2014 and we cannot receive any e-mail from outside ISS now. Approval of all data usage applications will be suspended until our server is restored. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.
The SSJ Data Archive is a comprehensive archive of social science data concerning Japan.
The SSJDA collects, compiles, and digitizes micro-level data on Japanese society, and offers them for secondary analysis.
Please note that the data sets are provided only in Japanese except some data sets (for detailed information, please visit this site).
We believe, however, that the Archive is useful for comparative purposes as well as for Japan studies.
Researchers without knowledge of the Japanese language are encouraged to utilize the SSJDA’s resources with the help of Japanese-speaking people.
