Summary The purpose of this survey series is to chronologically grasp and provide basic statistical data on the state of life insurance coverage among ordinary households, their consciousness on security of life, and other matters related to life insurance. The series dates back to 1965 when the Life Insurance Association began to conduct surveys with a three-year interval for this purpose. The task was taken over by the Institute upon its establishment in 1976, and the Institute has continued the series since then. Further, methodological and substantive changes were made in 1988.
