Summary The purpose of this study was to understand the actual working conditions and problems of part-time and casual part-time (arubaito) jobs and to explore their future direction and to serve as reference materials to inform companies and working people.

Major Survey Items Reasons for working part-time, experience working as a regular employee, reasons the respondent quit the company where they worked as a regular employee, length of continuous employment, occupation type, daily scheduled working hours, number of days worked per week, weekly scheduled working hours, whether the work start and end schedule changes depending on the day, work time period, opinion on the number of working hours per day, opinion on the number of working days per week, number of overtime hours per month, work style compared to regular employees, way of performing work, attitude toward work, enjoyment of work, demonstrating ability to work, work efficiency, work efficiency when two people take turns sharing the working hours per day and the number of working days per week, annual income, enrollment in employment insurance, enrollment in health insurance, enrollment in public pension insurance, work style after expansion of welfare pension application, age employment was restarted after childbirth, age of youngest child at time of gaining employment, childcare related obstacles to conducting job hunting activities, dissatisfaction or anxiety about the current place of employment or work, satisfaction with the current place of employment
