Summary Understanding public attitudes to energy (nuclear power, alternative energy such as solar, wind, geothermal, and other, and oil, etc.) has become even more important than before.

The Institute of Applied Energy regularly conducts questionnaire surveys about energy, analyzes the results, and provides them broadly throughout society for the purposes of contributing to increasing interest in energy and of creating basic information for energy strategy proposals based on the knowledge obtained.

This survey, conducted in 2007, continues to use the question items from previous years’ surveys to enable the observation of longitudinal changes, while including question items about attitudes to the partial damage and nuclear reactor shutdown at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant due to the Chuetsu offshore earthquake in Niigata.
