Summary
|
The Japan Travel Bureau Foundation is conducting research to understand trends in the travel and tourism markets while making full use of various data and local information.
In particular, the "JTBF Survey of Trends Among Travelers" is conducted every year to clarify the actual state of travel in the domestic travel market and to understand the attitudes of travelers. This survey was conducted in 2004.

- Types of travel (domestic/overseas/day trip, personal trip/company-related trip)
- Travel categories (sightseeing and recreational trip, trip to go to parents’ home or to take care of housework, etc., organized group tour operated by an organization, business trips and work-related trip, company-related group trip)
- Number of trips
- Departure month
- Total travel costs per person
(2) Actual conditions of sightseeing and recreation trips
- Departure date, companion(s), number of people
- Travel destination (domestic and overseas travel destinations), travel category, length of stay (number of nights)
- Modes of transportation (to the destination/while traveling), main accommodation facilities, travel costs
- Whether or not a travel agency was used, details of travel product (group package tour accompanied by a tour conductor or guide, private package tour unaccompanied by a tour conductor or guide, etc.), reservation method of accommodation
(3) Desired trips
- Trips respondent would like to take (sightseeing tour around nature and scenic spots, relaxing at seaside, etc.)
- Methods of gathering information about travel destination
