Summary This survey began in 2013 and was carried out by the general incorporated association known as 1more Baby Cheering Group (location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masako Mori). This is the third survey conducted in 2015.

This survey aimed to discover the real feeling of "facing obstacles in having the second child," which was defined in the survey as the "hesitation to give birth to a second child because of household financial prospects associated with living expenses and education costs, as well as work environment and age."

Equal number of samples from each prefecture in the country (63 people per prefecture)
Equal number of samples of married women without children/married with one child/married with two or more children
-> 47 (number of prefectures) * 3 (child conditions) =141 cells. For each cell, 21 people were surveyed, totaling 2,961 answers

After the results were collected, the composition ratio of each prefecture to all married people and the composition ratio of the number of children of married people were calculated from the 2010 National Census and applied.

* The respondents above were selected through a screening survey. The numbers in the report are the scores after the weight back.

Major Survey Items (1) Matters related to the intention of giving birth
・The ideal number of children, the ideal family structure, why the respondent wanted to have two or more children, the desire to give birth in the future, the desired number of children, the right timing to give birth, why the respondent had no intention to give birth, the degree of empathy with and perception of "the wall of the second child", why it exists, how it can be reduced, and the childcare system provided by the company.

(2) Matters related to the experience of giving birth
・Hesitation toward the first pregnancy, care taken in the first pregnancy, age difference between the first and second child, why the mother decided to have two or more children, anxiety matrix in the second or higher pregnancy, satisfaction level with the second or higher pregnancy, positive things about having two or more children, satisfaction level with the spouse's child-rearing, the mother's own level of dedication to child-rearing, and the level of happiness.

(3) Child-rearing environment
・Helpful information sources about childbirth and care, information sources that helped solve problems concerning childbirth and care, about the married life, ease of child-rearing in their prefecture and why, and child-rearing family friendliness index.
・Average time the husband returns home and the desired number of children
・Number of siblings (of the respondent), level of involvement of the mother's parents in childcare, and child-rearing lifestyle topics.

(4) Awareness of society and politics
・Perception of the economic situation, evaluation of the Abe administration, awareness, expectations, influence of the topics of the Outline of Countermeasures Against Birthrate Decline and the New System of Child-Rearing Support on the intention of giving birth.

(5) Living conditions
・The current residence and type of residence and the type of residence she would like to try in the future.
