Summary
|
The purpose of this survey is to clarify the current situation of pachinko and pachislot players from various angles and obtain materials to inform potential solutions to the problems that the pachinko industry faces. Additionally, surveys and chronological analyses are continuously being conducted to accumulate basic data for planning future measures for the amusement industry in general.
In recent years, the pachinko industry has been greatly affected by the decline in gambling behavior due to gambling addiction countermeasures and the move toward a smoke-free environment under the revised Health Promotion Law.
Against this social backdrop and in light of the declining number of players, this survey clarifies participants' store and machine selection behaviors. In addition to a conventional fixed-point survey, questions about issues that affect pachinko parlor operations, such as game trends related to new standard machines and consumption tax hikes, were also added in an attempt to understand players' playing trends and intentions.
The questionnaire is administered on a nationwide scale, and the web survey is divided into two stages: a screening survey and a main survey.

[Screening survey]
For a total of ten groups of male and female respondents (divided into five age groups, that is, 18 to under 20, 20 to 59 subdivided at 10-year age intervals, and 60 years old and over), the respondent sampling area was determined for each group via proportional distribution based on the population composition ratio in Japan, and the results were weighted per the "revised figures based on the finalized population of the 2015 National Census" in accordance with the gender and age composition.
[Main survey]
Based on the 1,500 pachinko and pachislot participants selected in the screening survey, weighted tabulation was conducted in accordance with the gender and age composition ratios.
