Summary The World Values Survey is a global network of social scientists who study changing values and their impact on society and politics. The WVS Association is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
This survey was first conducted in 1981, and each country pursues the most rigorous and high-quality survey design. The WVS consists of country-representative surveys conducted in about 120 countries, representing nearly 90% of the world's population, using essentially the same questionnaire. The WVS is the largest non-profit, international time-series survey of human beliefs and values and currently includes about 400,000 respondents. Furthermore, the WVS is the only academic study that covers a wide range of value variations in all primary cultures of the world, from the very poor to the very rich.
WVS aims to help scientists and policymakers understand the changing beliefs, values, and motivations of people around the world. Topics such as economic development, democratization, religion, gender equality, social capital, and subjective well-being can be analyzed.
The data presented here are cumulative data from Waves 1-7 of the World Values Survey. For more information on the World Values Survey, see also the official website: https://www.worldvaluessurvey.org/wvs.jsp
