Summary A survey series was initiated in 1987 to grasp changes in the consciousness and actual state of individuals as they relate to the life insurance business. The recent changes in the socio-economic environment may have necessitated such changes, and the series is intended to capture them by chronologically assessing insurance-related consciousness and realities. This is the third of the series, and deals with almost the same topics of investigation as the 1998 survey's--including the consciousness, preparedness, and actual coverage in the fields of security of life (medicine, old age, and death), the state of contact with the life insurance business, and ideas on related businesses.
