Summary Facing aging society in the immediate future, to build a society where everyone can live a long and fulfilling life, there needs to be constant re-evaluation of social systems related to employment/income, health/welfare, learning/social participation, and the living environment to make these suited to the aging society.

From this viewpoint, this survey, following the survey in 1995, is conducted again this time mainly focusing on the topics of employment/income. Under the theme of “attitudes among the elderly toward economic life,” items surveyed include income/spending, working, assets, and asset transfer/use, which are topics considered important for the elderly to live stable lives in their twilight years. The purpose of this survey is to contribute to the promotion of future social measures for the aging society.
