Summary Summary
The aim of this survey is to gain an understanding, in time series, of the actual situation of people’s life security awareness and security preparation associated with changes in the social environment.

This is the 13th survey of the Survey on Life Protection, conducted every three years since 1993. The Individual Survey on Life Protection and Life Insurance (which was conducted for five years since 1987) is the predecessor of this survey.

For this iteration, we have added new questions about income lost due to your most recent hospitalization/means of allocating self-borne cost and lost income/allocated percentages of life insurance and things that caused you to enroll in your most recent contract, etc.

Notes for Users We have structured this survey such that response formats for respondents vary based on the insurance types in which they are enrolled. Several separate survey forms have been prepared, as explained below.
- First, there is a survey form that all respondents use (Q1—Q53,F1—F10).
- In addition, respondents enrolled in life insurance, life mutual aid, or individual pension insurance are provided with the “light blue survey form” (Q1—Q5) (self-administered survey (placement method)).
- Finally, individuals enrolled in small-amount short-term insurance and mutual aid other than institutional mutual aid are provided with the “pink survey form” (QA—QD) (self-administered survey (placement method)).

Both the light blue and pink survey forms may be provided in multiple numbers to respondents; they receive the corresponding number of forms for each recently enrolled life insurance, life mutual aid, and individual pension insurance plan.

However, even if a single respondent fills out multiple light blue or pink survey forms, individual data variables will reflect their light blue and pink question values collected together.

Variable and value labels are written in Japanese.
