Summary This is a national survey jointly administered by the Kyoto University Center for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education and the Dentsu Scholarship Foundation that investigates the lifestyle actualities and career attitudes of university students and their learning. It has been conducted once every three years since 2007. In 2013, the University of Tokyo Center for Integrated Education Research also became an administrator.

Major Survey Items (1) Face items
Gender, location of high school you graduated from, establishment type of your high school, establishment type of your university, humanities/science specialization, whether this was your first choice, age, prefecture of residence, time you go to school, etc.

(2) About scholarship
Salary situation (allowance, part-time job, scholarships, other), presence/absence of waived tuition/class fees, presence/absence of scholarship, type of scholarship, plans to repay scholarship, reasons for accepting it

(3) About university life
Reasons considered most important when deciding to move on to college (before enrolling/now), skills/things you learned or gained while in college (in class/outside of class), average time per activity per week (class, friends, TV, etc.), things you study unrelated to class, things you emphasize in your university life, fulfillment of university life, etc.

(4) About volunteering and internships
Participation in volunteer activity/effects of participation, participation in company/school/ governmental office, etc., internships/effects of participation

(5) About outlook on the future
How you spent your high school years, effects of guidance counseling, outlook on the future, etc.

(6) About career education classes
Partaking in participatory classes, taking credit-awarding career education classes, attendance in career formulation support lectures, etc.

(7) About the job search and your life plans
Individual consultation about employment, consultation opportunities (teacher, senior student, administrative staff, counselor, etc.), necessity of qualifications, thoughts on continuing your schooling, time you started thinking about the future, presence/absence of life plans, start time of job hunting, prediction of career changes within 3 years of finding employment, thoughts on nature of employment, thoughts on continued employment, ideal work for you, nature of the balance between work and leisure, thoughts on marriage and life thereafter, etc.
