Summary For the agents of life who wish to realize the hope of living off an age of longevity affluently as well as self-selectively within the ever changing socio-economic environment, it has become extremely important to plan ahead an entire life including senior years. At the same time, it has also become important to clarify what the agents as well as the firms, organizations, and society which surround them should prepare in order to make the age of longevity an affluent one. Since its establishment, our Institute has continued to produce survey studies on changes in the socio-economic environment and people's consciousness and lives as they relate to life insurance and from the perspective of the agents of life themselves. Thus, we have had surveys on values in life and the aging society as well as surveys of women, families, and young people. This survey is a new addition to the existing body of research. Specifically, it first attempts to grasp the actual state of living, structures of affluence, and future socio-economic changes in order to draw a picture of the affluent agent of life at the beginning of the twenty-first century, and then proposes new approaches to life planning and examines what kind of infrastructure the state, local governments, and firms should prepare in the future in order to give life to the picture.
