Summary Since 1963 we have conducted an annual survey for the basic objective of grasping the economic life of university students and their consciousness and behavior as consumers as data to facilitate further advancement of the business activities of University Cooperatives. This 1992 survey, the 28th of the kind, was carried out in October when signs of a deepening recession began to be seen. Because it is about consumption trends in the first half of the year, the survey only indicates that the recession has just started to affect the student life under parental protection. Nonetheless, it reveals that the students have begun to explore "downsizing" measures in various dimensions of life.
