| Summary |
This survey was conducted for the purpose of obtaining the basic data necessary to advance the RENGO 91 "Spring Life Struggle (Shunto)." Globalization and technological innovation have enhanced the enterprises' and industries' representation in the world. They, however, have not contributed to enhance the quality of workers' lives. The sudden rise of land and stock prices has widened the disparity in asset. RENGO was established in November 1989 to unionize the employees in both public and private sectors. Its agenda is "Improvement of General Life": It is asking to rectify the labor distribution rate in the 91 Spring Life Struggle in order to transform the world into one that is not preoccupied with money-making. The emphasis of this survey is as follows: (1) In this survey, problems union members are facing are grasped subjectively. One's level of satisfaction in life, the extent to which one's wishes in life are realized, and the extent to which one feels to have time for oneself are investigated. The survey tried to pinpoint the exact reasons for one not feeling to have "rich" life. (2) The survey tried to clarify the evaluation of union members on the seriousness of the various kinds of problem workers are facing in their social lives, including the widening of the disparity in asset. (3) In order to compare this survey's results with the results obtained in "88 Survey of Life" conducted by "Minkan-rengo (Unification of private sector employees)," the question items are almost all identical. (4) In order to reduce the burden of the respondents, number of survey items were minimized. |

| Sampling Procedure | Non-probability: Quota (1) Number of questionnaires to be distributed to each sub-organization was decided in proportion to the size of each sub-organization. Questionnaires were distributed and collected through sub-organizations. (2) On the occasion of distributing to the members, in consideration of the man-and-woman ratio, age composition, a major and minor union composition, and areas of sub-organizations, the request of the following points was attached. (a) sure to distribute also to a minor association. (b) to distribute also to the unions of districts other than a metropolis. (c) An investigation unit union supplies a partner widely in consideration of a partner's man-and-woman ratio and age composition. |
