Summary RENGO's "Survey of Life" has been conducted every other year since in 1988, and it has become a basic data essential to forming agenda and requests for the "Spring Life Struggle (Shunto)." The survey serves for the purpose to seek the union members' reality of life and their feelings for life under a situation where the union members' needs and concerns is diversifying. This year's survey was conducted for the purpose of understanding the situation and realities of life and workplace of the union members, which is necessary to advance the 2001 Shunto. Using some of the search items used in the past, this survey tries to investigate whether union members feel "quality, richness and social justice" in their lives and, if not, the reason. It also tries to find out what kind of life style union members wish to pursue. This time as well as last time questionnaires were distributed to medium and small-sized unions through regional unions under RENGO.
