|
With "a super-aged society" coming quickly in our country, it has been an important issue to realize society in which at lease 65 year old people can work, not only for the purpose of maintaining the economic vitality for our country but also to cope with some other situations like reduction of labor force by reduction of youth population, raising of pensionable age and very high employment volition of the elderly people in our country. In order to realize such society, it is important to aim at reserving conditions for people from every classes to be able to work until 65 years old. This survey was conducted for the purpose of collecting information required for institutionalization of continuation employment until 65-year old. Concretely, the institutionalization of continuation employment until 65-year old in more than middle scale companies, actual conditions and issues faced by the companies, problems of the related circumference etc., were asked and analyzed. They can be considered as a basic data for social realization of active 65- year old.
This survey investigated the consciousness about their lives until it comes to receive welfare pensions, including reemployment after retirement and extension of retirement age. Samples were the employees aged 40 or more year old and less than 60.
Survey on companies were also carried out in the same year.

Sampling Procedure
|
(1) To sample companies for the survey, companies in each prefecture were classified into 21 classifications by company scale and industrial classification, and extract according to the rate of the number of companies in each prefectures. (2) To sample individuals, individuals were classified by age class in the above-mentioned extracted companies, and persons in charge in each company were requested to select in consideration of classification of clerical worker and on-site worker, man and women, and managerial position and non-managerial position for each age class.

Mode of Data Collection
|
The Association of Employment Development for Senior Citizens of each prefecture asked the personal affairs department staff of each extracted companies to cooperate with the survey, and the questionnaires were distributed to the corresponding sampled employees. Collection were done by 2 ways: by mail directly from the employees to the Association of Employment Development for Senior Citizens, and received by the Association of Employment Development via personal affairs department staff.
