Summary Shoko Research Institute was established in 1986 by Shoko Chukin Bank and other organizations specializing in small- and medium-sized enterprises and has since served as a think tank specializing in such enterprises, surveying them and providing them with information.

The questionnaire survey conducted here is to ascertain the effects of economic globalization on the operation of medium-sized manufacturing firms and how they are addressing the effects.
