Summary This survey was conducted with the objective of understanding and analyzing the characteristics and related factors regarding the attitudes of young people in Japan and other countries.

It is also intended to serve as reference material for promotions and revisions of Article 8 of the Law for Promotion of Children and Youth Development.

The following 6 items were used as survey areas.
(1) Regarding your views on life (2) Regarding your country/society (3) Regarding your community/volunteering (4) Regarding occupation (5) Regarding school

Sampling Procedure Non-probability: Quota
From the statistical data of composition ratios of each country, we allocated samples in accordance with gender and age groups.
At the same time, we set up regional divisions in each country and allocated samples in accordance with population composition ratios for each subdivision.
As for collection, we attempted to secure the samples we allocated to each gender, age, and regional group.
Mode of Data Collection Self-administered questionnaire: Web-based (CAWI)
Web research with 1,000 samples from each country, in principle

(1) Regarding your views on life
・Self-image, self-respect, sense of fulfillment, state of mind, presence of troubles and worries, someone to talk to about troubles and worries, hope for the future, image of the future, social norms, views on religion, friends relationships, love relationship, views on gender role, priorities given to work and home, relationship between work and home, relationship between gender and life path choices, views on marriage, reasons people should marry, reasons people should not marry, number of children desired, views on divorce

(2) Regarding your country/society
・Factors which make you proud of your country, pride as a citizen of your country and service for your country, degree of interest in politics, involvement in policymaking, degree of satisfaction with society, thoughts about the future of your country, societal problems in your country, factors for success in your society, international perspectives of people in your country, policies necessary for developing an "international perspective," image of Japan and Japanese people

(3) Regarding your community/volunteering
・Attachment to your regional community, reasons you like the area where you live, attitude towards living there for the rest of your life, degree of interest in volunteer activities, reasons you're interested in volunteer activities

(4) Regarding occupation
・Effects of career education, intention to attend career education, degree of satisfaction with life in your workplace, things you considered when choosing a profession, thoughts on changing jobs, methods for raises/promotions, current and future anxiety

(5) Regarding school
・Significance of attending school, degree of satisfaction with school life, thoughts about moving on to college (or other higher education), objectives for higher education, who will bear educational expenses

(6) Regarding home
・Attitudes towards parent-child relationships, image of your parents, dependent care for an elderly parent, thoughts on your own old age, degree of satisfaction with home life/specifics
