Summary This survey was carried out in February 2014, by the Hope Studies (official name is The Social Science of Hope, kibogaku) project, a research project of the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo, in order to understand changes that had occurred in people's work and lives approximately in three years after the earthquake.

This survey clarifies the effects that the Great East Japan Earthquake had on people's hopes.

Sampling Procedure Non-probability: Quota
In the planning stages, we decided to aim for 10,000 responses. With reference to the estimated populations of survey areas and age groups given in the employment structure basic survey, we set our composition ratio of individuals in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s at 2:3:3:2 as a guide.

Additionally, we referenced the employment structure basic survey for composition ratios of regular employees, other employees, self-employed business, and unemployed individuals to come up with a 5:2:1:2 ratio. We concluded our survey after getting close enough to achieving our composition ratio target.
Mode of Data Collection Self-administered questionnaire: Web-based (CAWI)
