Summary In recent years, as structural labor shortages become critical, there has been vigorous debate around how to improve labor productivity. In this context, a key point of focus is the "growth" of individual workers. For companies and organizations, too, a critical question in the context of diversifying work-related values and ways of working is how to provide growth opportunities which are appropriate for each of their members.

In this light, in 2017, Persol Research and Consulting Co., Ltd began a large-scale fixed-point survey on how people work, how they understand growth, and their actual feelings with respect to growth. The survey is administered to 10,000 individuals of various employment types and occupations and aims to delineate, over time, a broad view of "growth through work," while investigating the state of, and views on, ways of working, as well as views on growth.
