Summary The purpose of this survey is to grasp senior citizens' views on the diversifying longevity society, their actual living conditions and intentions, and to examine the future of the longevity society.
This survey consists of two types: a survey of senior citizens and a survey of middle-aged people.

Major Survey Items The survey items are the same for both the senior citizens survey and the middle-aged survey. However, the following variables exist only in each survey.
Senior citizens survey: Size of city and county of residence, regional block of residence

Middle-age group survey: Prefecture of residence

(1) Health and personality
Subjective health, objective health status, daily walking time, social contribution activities
Behavior/personality, risk aversion (probability of precipitation carrying an umbrella), timing of doing homework during long vacations
Time discount rate, loss aversion
Driving habits, frequency of driving, reasons for not driving, intention to return driver's license, experience with particular fraud, actions to prevent victims of particular fraud

(2) Social security and finance 
Awareness of the characteristics of the public pension system, expected life expectancy, awareness of being able to freely choose the age at which public pension benefits begin, whether or not they receive public pension benefits, criteria for delaying the start of public pension benefits
Confidence in the knowledge of finance and insurance, interest rate calculations, and financial and insurance literacy

(3) Arrival of a long-lived society and asset management
Desired life expectancy, hopes and fears for a long-lived society, and most significant concerns
Anxiety and financial preparation for retirement, financial anxiety and preparation for own illness/injury, presence/absence of nursing care, financial anxiety and preparation for needing nursing care, degree of desire for nursing care services by Japanese/foreign staff other than family members
The respondents' level of willingness to receive nursing care services from Japanese or non-Japanese staff members other than family members
Whether or not they are taking care of their parents, financial concerns/preparations for when their parents need nursing care, financial concerns/preparations in case of emergency, financial preparations they wish they had made, whether or not they are prepared for inheritance, whether or not they are ready for when their judgment capacity declines, who they consult, how they handle their financial assets

(4)Face items
Gender, date of birth, occupation, whether or not they would like to work if they could, annual income, age of retirement, expected retirement benefits
Marital status, spouse's date of birth, spouse's occupation, spouse's annual income, spouse's (expected) age of retirement, spouse's (expected) future retirement benefits
The number of family members living together, the number of family members not living together, the number of relatives with whom the person has contact
Annual public pension income, annual employment income, annual other income, monthly living expenses for the couple, monthly medical and nursing care expenses for the couple, amount of financial assets held by the household, total premiums already paid, type of residence
