The purpose of this survey is to clarify the awareness and reality of how young and mid-career employees perceive “autonomous and independent career development,” whether there is a gap between what they consider important and what the company expects of them, and to what extent they are achieving this.

*Anybody who has been with the company he/she currently works for (employee size of 300 or more) for at least six months.

Sampling Procedure
|
The samples were assigned according to gender, age, and whether or not the respondents had changed jobs.
The questionnaires were collected so that the gender ratio would be even.
The age range was 25-44 years, and the questionnaires were collected in 5-year increments so that the ratios were evenly distributed.
The sample was divided equally between those who had changed jobs (six months or earlier) and those who had not changed jobs (1:4).

Awareness of "autonomous and independent career development," changes in motivation, problems with career development (competence, consulting partners, impatience, etc.), actions taken for career development

About the company respondents are currently working for (level of satisfaction, prospects of the company, etc.), characteristics of the company (atmosphere of friendly competition, opportunities for growth, culture of consultation, etc.), systems introduced to support career development and their usefulness (assistance in obtaining qualifications, career consultation, permission for a side job, etc.)
Awareness of current job and supervisor (discretion, assistance, etc.), usual behavior at workplace (independence, learning, etc.), degree of realization of ideas and actions related to independent career development, awareness of work (being worth doing, satisfaction, etc.)
Plans to change jobs, changes in career outlook due to the Corona disaster, status of teleworking
Note) In addition, variables related to gender, age, prefecture, region, marital status, presence or absence of children, annual household income, and yearly personal income were included.
