Summary  The Department of Research on the Staffing Industry, the Institute of Social Science, the University of Tokyo has established the "Study Group on the Capacity Development and Human Resources Management of Home Help Workers" and is conducting a survey as a component of research aimed at presenting a model for correspondence between nursing care work and capacity and the proposal of a capacity development-type personnel treatment system.
 The purpose of this survey is to clarify various issues pertaining to securing helpers, who are the primary actors in the delivery of nursing care services, and improving the quality of these services by grasping the actual working conditions service providers’ working environments create.
 For this purpose, the survey was designed to clarify the actual situation regarding helpers’ work content and skills development within the framework in-home nursing care service providers create.

Universe All service providers at Company F’s 36 offices (One of the offices is new and was not included in the survey of Company F's helpers.)

Major Survey Items (1) Respondents’ characteristics
Gender,age,last school attended,experience studying at a university/vocational school related to welfare, marital status,person in the household who bears the most living expenses, etc.  
 
(2) Professional background
Respondent’s circumstances when they first applied for a nursing care job, reasons the respondent pursued a nursing care job, number of years of nursing care experience,reasons the respondent chose the service provider with whom they are currently affiliated, etc.  
 
(3) Service providers’ managerial duties
Job title, whether the respondent does concurrent managerial work other than that of a service provider manager, number of managers in the office and how work is divided among them, employment status, number of hours worked per the past month, various duties and time allocation strategy, attractiveness of a service provider manager’s work, manager’s duties (itemized), conferences organized or attended in the past month, etc. 
 
(4) Knowledge, skills, and the development of abilities necessary to deliver nursing care
Current qualifications, respondent’s skills development desires at their current company, knowledge and skills the respondent wishes to acquire (by category), etc.  
 
(5) Hopes for the future
Whether the respondent plans to continue working as a service provider manager in the future, respondent’s desired future job or career (by category), etc.  
 
(6) Helpers in the office
Duties helpers have been instructed not perform even if a user requests it (itemized), knowledge and skills the administration wants helpers to acquire (itemized), administration’s aspirations for helpers, etc.
