Summary  This is a survey and analysis of children's awareness of topics related to arithmetic as well as the psychological impact and associated problems of arithmetic learning from the children's perspective.

Major Survey Items  Gender, subjects the respondent likes and dislikes, the degree of difficulty the respondent experienced while attempting to solve math problems in years 3–6 by unit, respondent’s evaluation of the subject, respondent’s perceptions of the subject, respondent’s (un)pleasant experiences in math class, respondent’s resistance to learning (math, Japanese, social studies, science), whether the respondent attends a cram school and the type of cram school the respondent attends, comparison between cram schools and schools, respondent’s approach to studying math at school, respondent’s independent approach to studying math outside of school, relationship between the respondent's strengths and weaknesses in arithmetic and their prospective future, respondent’s self-evaluation of their performance in arithmetic, etc.
