Summary
|
In the past, it was said that the family, school, and community comprised the environment that supported children. However, it has been pointed out that the community has lost its meaning as a childrearing construct. Indeed, the community has fallen out of children's living space, and information from the media, cram schools, and classes have supplanted it as influential factors. However, is it possible for children to develop physically and mentally without their community’s support?
This study focuses on the community as a living space; the research examines children's after-school lives and their connections with the community and traces children's development in the context of the natural local environment and the children’s interpersonal relationships.
