Summary
|
On the surface, school staff seem to be getting along well with students’ parents, but in reality, schools shun parents, and parents, in turn, find schools unapproachable. This seems to be the case with many schools in Japan. Since junior high school students are at an age when it is difficult to guide them, it is desirable for schools and families to work together in the interest of children’s sound development. If parents are ultimately responsible for their children's education, then schools should involve parents in school management as equal negotiators.
In this survey, junior high school students’ parents were asked to regularly share their evaluations and expectations of education, junior high schools, and teachers to clarify the actual state of parental awareness.
