| Summary | In the midst of an "age of great competition" which arrived with the collapse of the bubble economy, our country is facing the need for structural adjustment and is promoting deregulation in various fields. Included is the field of employment, in which revision is in progress of the current employment security legislation with respect to (out)placement and labor standard legislation involving the contract period and working hours. In either case, the aim is to make the existing employment system more flexible. This survey of workers and their unions was conducted to obtain data conductive to respond adequately to the employment conditions which are diversifying in response to the changing industrial structure. For the objective, it attempts to uncover the subjects' basic idea about deregulation measures as well as their demand regarding the preparation of various conditions in the field of employment. The survey was carried out with the establishment of a "Committee for Research Study on Effects of Deregulation on Employed Labor." |
