Summary With "a super-aged society" coming quickly in our country, it has been an important issue to realize society in which at lease 65 year old people can work, not only for the purpose of maintaining the economic vitality for our country but also to cope with some other situations like reduction of labor foce by reduction of youth population, raising of pensionable age and very high employment volition of the elderly poeple in our country. In order to realize such society, it is important to aim at reserving conditions for people from every classes to be able to work until 65 years old. This survey was conducted for the purpose of collecting information required for institutionalization of continuation employment until 65-year old. Concretely, the institutionalization of continuation employment until 65-year old in more than middle scale companies, actual conditions and issues faced by the companies, problems of the related cirucumference etc., were asked and analyzed. They can be considered as a basic data for social realization of active 65- year old. Survey on the opinions of 40 to 59 year old employees were also carried out in the same year.

Sampling Procedure
Mode of Data Collection Self-administered questionnaires were mailed from the Association of Employment Development for Senior Citizens of each prefecture, to persons in charge for personnel affaires of each company. Colleceted by mail.

Major Survey Items (1) attribution of company (place of businsee): existence of head office function, industry, number of employees, company scale, established year, corporate earnings (transition in the past five years, prospect for the next five years), employees' age composition (present, five years later and ten years later).
(2) mandatory retirement: existence of mandatory retirement system, retirement age, started time of 60 years old retirement system, existence of amendent schedule of retirement age, age of retirement after amendent.

(5) service extension and re-employment system: existence of service extension or re-employment system, (if exist) system with many application, (if both not exist) future setting schedule, contents of service extention and re-employment system (range of an application candidate, existence of highest employment age setup and its age, employment form, working hours, service days, executive, contents of work, annual wage, degree of falling of annual wages, variation in the wages between continuation employers, existence of consideration of pensions, etc in wage determination, measures of the wage determination with pensionable age raising, view about wage determination of people in the first half of 60 years old).
(6) continuation employment in associated companies after retirement age, etc.: existence of continuation employment in associated companies, continuation employment age in associated companies, future plan, (if no plan) future introductory schedule.
(7) regular employees' age composition and new employment or unemployment situation: number of regular employees classified by age, number of newly employed or retired employees, origin of new employees, course after unemployment, number of emploees retired before retirement age, number of emploees who applied for early-retirement incentive plan, number of retired employees at retirement age, candidates of continuation employment, actual continuation employees, etc.
(8) wage curve: change of the elements of age continuous service weight in middle and old age people's wage determination, present condition of wage differentinal in a company (survey subjects of wage differential, average-wage index, change of wage curve for the past five years and next five years, minimum and the highest wage index, change of the wage differential between the same age for the past five years and next five years).
(9) view over future elderly-people employment: policy of the job security of 60-64 years-old people (extention to 65 years old of retirement age, continuation employment in own company to 65 years old for all candidates, continuation employment in the enterprise group to 65 years old for all candidates, laborers' self-reliance and support of company), reasons for difficulty with extention of the retirement age and continuation employment for all candidates.
