Summary Awareness of volunteerism is said to have undergone a major transformation after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Accordingly, we consider it as important to grasp the current state of labor unions and union members with respect to their awareness of and attitudes toward volunteerism as well as their desired course of life and the future. This survey asks their opinion about private circles and organizations which extend self-supporting activities for societal purposes, and aims to obtain basic data for studying what role labor unions can possibly play in this field in the future. The survey consists of two questionnaires: (1) A Questionnaire on Labor Unions and Volunteer Activities (for JTUC-affiliated labor unions) and (2) An Individual Questionnaire on Volunteer Activities (for JTUC-affiliated union members).
