Summary This survey was conducted for the purpose of providing basic materials for disaster prevention measures in the future by understanding the current state of local residents’ awareness of information relating to the Tokai earthquakes and their attitudes to the Tokai earthquakes, as well as the current state of preparedness toward such event after experiencing an earthquake with the epicenter in Suruga Bay occurred on August 11, 2009 around 5:07 am.

Place/what respondent was doing/whether respondent thought it was the “Tokai earthquake” at time of occurrence/anticipation of whether or not there will be a post-earthquake “declaration of warning”/actions during tremors

Whether or not anyone was injured/damage to buildings/damage inside the house

Actions after tremors subsided/risk of tsunami at the location of respondent at the time of earthquake/actions in anticipation of tsunami at time of earthquake/problems arising from this earthquake

Awareness of “Tokai Earthquake Report”/awareness of issuing of “Tokai Earthquake Report”/awareness of announcement that stated “the event was not related to a Tokai Earthquake”/feelings regarding the Japan Meteorological Agency’s announcement that “the event was not related to a Tokai Earthquake”/awareness of details of “Tokai Earthquake Report,” “Tokai Earthquake Watch,” or “Tokai Earthquake Forecast (“declaration of warning”)/possibility of forecasting the “Tokai Earthquake”/actions if a “Tokai Earthquake Watch” is issued
