| Summary |
This survey was conducted to capture the actual state and guardians’ attitudes toward discipline and education. Benesse has conducted surveys for this purpose in 1997 and 1998, and the survey this time in particular was designed to allow comparison with the 1998 survey. The characteristics of this survey may be summarized as follows. 1. Allows an appreciation of changes over time 2. Allows an appreciation of differences between school years from first-grade elementary school students to third-year junior high school students 3. Allows an appreciation of regional differences in child-rearing 4. Adds new items to capture attitudes and behavior in response to changes in the educational environment *The data provided consist of only the responses from mothers in the Greater Tokyo Area. Data of responses from guardians in regional cities and rural areas have not been available. |
