Summary With the objective of understanding the entire process of a civil dispute, the specially promoted research on “Dispute Resolution and Civil Justice in the Legalizing Society” divided the process into three sub-processes and conducted one national survey for each. The three surveys were the “Disputing Behavior Survey,” which focused on the stage between the problem and the dispute, the “Legal Advice Seeking Behavior Survey,” which focused on the stage of legal advice-seeking behavior for problem-solving, and the “Litigation Behavior Survey,” which focused on the stage of litigation behavior after the lawsuit is filed.

This is the “Legal Advice Seeking Behavior Survey.” The “Disputing Behavior Survey” and the “Litigation Behavior Survey” were published under survey numbers 1039 and 1041 respectively.

This survey is a detailed and extensive analysis that aims to identify the individuals or organizations in regional communities that a member of contemporary Japanese society seeks advice and support from while facing troubles of a legal nature that still need to be dealt with, as well as how they evaluate their experience.
