Summary
|
This joint research project, "Everyday Life and Learning of Children" (Parent-Child Panel Survey), conducted by the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo and the Benesse Educational Research and Development Institute, is an annual panel survey that follows the same guardian-child pairs over multiple years. This panel survey investigates children's daily lives, educational situations, and guardians' parenting practices, with the aim of clarifying how these aspects change over time as children grow. This allows researchers to better understand the realities and challenges in children's daily lives, education, and parenting, and to explore more effective approaches to education and parenting.
This research project is characterized by the following three key features: (1) It is a continuous panel survey that adds new first-grade elementary school students each year, which enables it to capture both the "current state" and "changes across time periods" from children's first year in elementary school to their senior year in high school. (2) By continuously surveying the same guardian-child pairs, this survey captures the process of "growth and development" in guardian-child relationships. (3) This survey captures a broad and detailed picture of children's attitudes and current circumstances regarding their everyday life and learning.
These survey data are from Wave 1 (the 2015 base survey) of the "Japanese Longitudinal Study of Children and Parents".
