Summary This survey aims to capture the characteristics of modern children through a contrast between the present and the past.

The survey was conducted in 1999, preceded by a 1980 iteration. Given that timeline, this survey sought to clarify how children's behavior and attitudes have changed over the past 20 years.

For the purpose of comparison, nine surveys were selected from those conducted around the time of the publication of the Monograph, and a single questionnaire was prepared for comparison. Although the previous surveys’ years of administration ranged from 1979 to 1982, they are referred to collectively as the "1980 surveys" in the comparative analysis.
