Summary Changes in children's environment are ongoing, particularly with respect to the media, and this impacts their consciousness and alters their perceptions and worldview. This study examined whether the attitudes of junior high school students have actually changed. In order to clarify the direction and degree of change through the data, we used items from a survey administered around 1983 to conduct a survey in 1995 and compared the two. The main items pertained to the following: occupational outlook, views on school, sense of right and wrong, parent–child relationship, gender roles, and sense of normality.
