Summary
|
Today's students are wondering how they should live. Modern junior high school students seem to be somewhat adrift in that they are unable to identify an ideal way of life or find a role model.
While Japan’s rejection of the values it had up to World War II is a positive occurrence, it has prioritized economic revival to the neglect of values-related issues such as how to live. The debate on a desirable lifestyle in a democratic society is still ongoing.
What do junior high school students aspire to, and how do they want to live in the uncertain times of the prolonged recession following the collapse of the bubble economy? In an attempt to understand their thinking, this survey explores how they interact with the information media and examines their various attitudes toward the future, their careers, and life.
