Summary The second semester of junior high school starts after summer break, marking a noticeable change in students' physical and mental growth and the classroom atmosphere. How does class year affect junior high school students’ sensitive development in adolescence? This study developed a questionnaire to understand the development of and mental shifts among students. Nearly identical surveys were administered to the same students in June and November of 2000. Based on data collected from each participating school, class, and individual, it is clear that students' comfort at school depends largely on their relationships with their classmates and homeroom teachers.
